2016 NEW YORK COMIC CONVENTION EXCLUSIVEBY EAGLEMOSSUNITED SPACE SHIP YORKTOWN"SS YORKTOWN" NCC-1717VERY HARD TO FIND!2016 Convention Exclusive Star Trek Federation Constitution Class Starship - USS Yorktown NCC-1717This ship has been
painstakingly recreated in die-cast and plastic materials then hand painted
with an incredible level of detail. Vehicle measures approximately 5 inches
long x 3 inches wide x 2 inches tall (mounted on base).
The "United
Space Ship Yorktown" (identified as SS Yorktown) was the name of the
central starship in Gene Roddenberry's first Star Trek proposal to NBC in 1964.
The ship was named after the USS Yorktown (CV-5), a World War II American
aircraft carrier, which in turn was named after the last major battle of the
American Revolution, won in 1781 by a combined Franco-American army commanded
by Gen. George Washington. Coincidentally, the historical World War II Yorktown
was a class sister of the historical USS Enterprise (CV-6), after which
Roddenberry ultimately named his starship.
NCC-1717 was the
registry number given to the Yorktown by Gregory Jein in his influential
"The Case of Jonathan Doe Starship" article, published in the April
1973 issue 27 of the T-Negative fanzine. Michael Okuda took his cue from Jein's
article and further propagated the registry in his reference work writings,
most notably the Star Trek Encyclopedia.
This Star Trek
starship is a strictly limited-edition created exclusively for Comic-Con.
Unlike the other issues in the collection, there was no magazine published for
this one.
The collection
features a full range of Federation and alien vessels including seven
incarnations of the Enterprise; all the major Klingon vessels including the
Bird-of-Prey; Dominion; Borg; and Romulan ships and is slated to include about
130 ships in total. This item is IN STOCK and will be shipped out within one business day after payment has been received. Each model has been inspected to make sure there are no broken pieces present, no pieces are missing and that the stand is included. This Eaglemoss ship never had a magazine made for its release. The winning bidder of this auction pays the calculated insured shipping rate as calculated by Ebay's shipping calculator on this page.Good luck in all of your auctions!
